San Beda outlasts Letran, stays spotless in NCAA women's volleyball

MANILA, Philippines – The San Beda College Lady Red Spikers preserved their spotless record in the NCAA Season 93 women's volleyball tournament – but just barely.

San Beda squandered a 2-1 lead before regaining its form in the fifth set to claim a 17-25, 25-15, 25-16, 27-29, 15-12 victory over Colegio de San Juan de Letran on Monday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Five players scored in double-digits for the Lady Red Spikers, with skipper Cesca Racraquin again leading the way with 17 points, 13 excellent digs, and nine receptions.

Nieza Viray and Sattriani Espiritu had 14 and 12 points, respectively, as San Beda offset an 11-7 disparity in kill blocks by tallying more attacks, 51-42, and service aces, 12-6.

The Lady Red Spikers improved to 5-0, joining defending champion Arellano University Lady Chiefs at the No. 1 spot.

The Lady Knights, meanwhile, dropped to 2-3.
