Reggie Okosa Picked Up by Dreamers After Alab Release
Okosa replaces Jaleel Cousins who averaged 14.8 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 5 games for the Dreamers.
The well-travelled Okosa finds his way back to Taiwan after leading Alab Pilipinas to their first win of the season with a 19-point, 19-rebound game. Despite that herculean performance, Alab would later replace Okosa (along with Ivan Johnson) for Justin Brownlee and Renaldo Balkman.
Having played in the Taiwanese SBL earlier in his career, Okosa is no stranger to the culture and basketball circles in Taiwan which should make his transition a lot much easier. Okosa was averaging 24.0 points and 13.5 rebounds in his first 4 games with Alab Pilipinas and it shouldn’t be too much to expect something along the same lines here with the Formosa Dreamers.
The Dreamers are coming off a 2-game losing streak and in need of some major offensive support for Lenny Daniel. Cousins was a big body that the Dreamers could throw around in the post, but was sometimes prone to turning the ball over (3.2 per game). Okosa’s veteran leadership, offensive versatility, and energy should be a much better fit for the young Dreamers squad.
Okosa and his new club will be playing their first game together against the Saigon Heat on Saturday, January 6 against the Saigon Heat at Changhua County Stadium, Changhua.
