NLEX's Guiao growing concerned after back-to-back losses
MANILA, Philippines – With his team yet to win a game in 2018, NLEX head coach Yeng Guiao can't help but be concerned.
The glow of their 2-0 start to the 2017-18 PBA Philippine Cup is slowly dissipating as the Road Warriors dropped back-to-back games, first to the Phoenix Fuel Masters and then to the Magnolia Hotshots last Sunday.
"We're a little concerned because we lost the last two games in similar fashion," Guiao told reporters after dropping a 105-94 result to the Hotshots.
In particular, rebounding has been a massive issue for the Road Warriors. In their 102-95 loss to Phoenix on January 7, they gave up 19 offensive rebounds that the Fuel Masters translated into 22 second-chance points.
On Sunday, Magnolia simply clobbered them on the boards. The Hotshots collected 61 rebounds to the Road Warriors' 42.
