Fil-Am Remy Martin delights in making '23 for 23' list

As someone who takes great pride in his Filipino heritage, it was no surprise that Arizona State guard Remy Martin was honored to be included in the "23 for 23" list of Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes.

The 19-year-old Martin, a freshman point guard for Arizona State University who hails from Chatsworth, California, was one of five players based overseas who made it to Reyes' initial pool.

The other players were Kobe Paras of California State University, Northridge, Dwight Ramos of California State University, AJ Edu of Llandovery College UK, and Troy Rike of Wake Forest University.

"It's a blessing," Martin said of his inclusion in Reyes' "wish list." "It's an honor for me to even be mentioned."

"I thank the people that chose me. I think it's a complete blessing. I'm humbled by it," he added.

Martin's mother is Filipina, and he is well aware of his heritage. In a November 2017 profile, Martin said he grew up in a Filipino household, and that molded him into the person that he is.
