Despite unbeaten record, Torres not rushing for a title shot

Jomary Torres has quickly emerged as one of the top contenders in her division but she feels that she’s yet to reach the championship-caliber level that she wants herself to be in.

“I’d like to enjoy the win first. I think I’ll still have a hard time contending for the title,” she said after preserving her immaculate 4-0 record with a win over April Osenio in ONE: Global Superheroes on Friday.

The 21-year-old Torres knocked out Osenio just 40 seconds into the match, proving that she’s one of the promotion’s rising stars in the strawweight class.

“It feels good that I tested my mettle against a fighter from Team Lakay. I’m happy with the outcome,” she said.

The win kept the Zamboangueña’s amazing climb up the ranks after her shocking second round submission win over Thai fan favorite Rika Ishige and a unanimous decision conquest against Indonesian Nita Dea last year.
