Magnolia rides Paul Lee's hot hand to rout Alaska
Paul Lee scored 30 points, including 6 3-pointers, as Magnolia downed Alaska 108-95 in the PBA Philippine Cup at San Juan Arena on Wednesday.
Alaska started hot, building a 10-point lead in the first quarter, but once Magnolia started to find its range that's when the teams' fortunes started to flip.
Lee, who missed games late in the 2016-17 season because of a knee injury, showed no signs of its ill effects, coming off the bench to torch the net to the tune of 11-of-14 field-goal shooting, including 6 of 8 from downtown. He also had 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
Once the Hotshots established a 16-point lead, 87-71, late in the third, the Aces couldn’t come closer than 8 points.
On a day when three teams in action made more than 10 3-pointers and shot better than 40% from behind the arc, Alaska struggled from downtown, making only 6 of 20 (30%).
Magnolia made 11 of 26 (42%) from long range.
