FEU looks to stay one step ahead of Ateneo
MANILA, Philippines – Far Eastern University (FEU) head coach Olsen Racela is bracing for the inevitable adjustments that will be made by Ateneo de Manila University in the wake of the Tamaraws' victory last Sunday in the Final 4.
The fourth-seeded Tamaraws kept their UAAP Season 80 campaign alive by stunning the top-seeded Blue Eagles, 80-67, and forcing a do-or-die game for the last spot in the finals.
It was a complete team effort for the Tamaraws, who played at a high level from start to finish, particularly on defense. They held Ateneo to its lowest scoring output of Season 80, and repeatedly rebuffed the Blue Eagles' attempt at a comeback in the second half.
Yet Racela was also realistic when he discussed their victory. "We haven't done anything yet," he noted.
"Ang nakuha lang namin is to take away the twice-to-beat advantage of Ateneo," he added. "We're looking forward to Wednesday's game, and see what we can do to try to stop a really strong team like Ateneo."
