Cignal star Jovelyn Gonzaga stretchered out after apparent injury
MANILA, Philippines – Cignal's campaign in the 2017 Philippine Superliga (PSL) Grand Prix was dealt a major blow when star utility spiker Jovelyn Gonzaga suffered an apparent injury to her right knee on Tuesday.
Playing against powerhouse F2 Logistics, the HD Spikers were already down 13-21 in the second set when Gonzaga attempted to recover the ball after her attack was blocked.
But Gonzaga, a national team mainstay, landed awkwardly and was clearly in pain after hurting her right knee.
She was immediately rushed to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center but a diagnosis has yet to be revealed by her team.
Gonzaga has established herself as one of the best all-around players in the country, and shone for the Philippines in its stints in the 2017 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship and the 2017 Southeast Asian Games.
