Ateneo focuses on Mbala as Blue Eagles prepare for finals rematch
MANILA, Philippines – There was quite literally no time for the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles to enjoy their epic 88-84 overtime win over Far Eastern University (FEU) in the UAAP Season 80 Final 4 on Wednesday, which propelled them to the finals.
This was because they immediately had to turn their attentions to their opponents in the best-of-three finals series: defending champion De La Salle University, the masters of "Mayhem" in the UAAP.
"We have to move on," Ateneo coach Tab Baldwin said after their victory in the do-or-die game, even as he acknowledged that it was a "heck of a game" for both the players and the fans.
"I think the coaching staff has to set the tone, and we gotta come down from the cloud pretty quick," he explained. "Get our focus on the next game, because we didn't play this season just to win in the semis."
"We played this season to go as far as this team is capable of going."
