Ancajas knew Conlan can't handle body punches

From the very start of their title bout Jerwin Ancajas already knew that his challenger Jamie Conlan had trouble handling body shots.

This is why the reigning IBF junior bantamweight champion persistently attacked the Irishman’s body until Conlan couldn’t take it anymore and surrendered in just six rounds in front of Irish spectators at the SSE Arena in Belfast over the weekend.

“Bale nung Round 1 pa lang napansin na namin na ininda niya ‘pag tinatamaan sa katawan,” Ancajas told ABS-CBN News. “‘Di lang namin inaasahan na matatapos pala sa sixth.”

The champion looked like the hungrier fighter that night, starting aggressively to force Conlan to take a knee in the first round.

The Irishman was again sent to the canvas in the third and fourth rounds following brutal punishment to the body.
