Adamson protests 'biased' calls in Final 4 loss to La Salle

MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATED) Adamson University on Monday officially filed a protest to the UAAP regarding its loss to defending champion De La Salle University in the Final 4 last Saturday, citing "dubious officiating."

The Soaring Falcons squandered a double-digit second-half lead and lost to the Green Archers, 82-75, to bow out of the Final Four. It marked the second straight year that they have been ousted by La Salle in the semifinals.

Yet Adamson head coach Franz Pumaren was clearly dissatisfied with the officiating, and later made pointed remarks regarding the free throw discrepancy in interviews with reporters.

In a letter to UAAP executive director and commissioner Rebo Saguisag, Fr. Aldrin R. Suan, CM of Adamson said they are lodging a protest "against the lamentable calls made by the referees" in the game.

"It is loud and clear that the calls made by the referees were downrightly unfair and biased. The manner the game was officiating was revolting, and calls for an immediate action in order to forestall its duplication in the future," he added.
