TNT, Ginebra eye series upper hand in crucial Game 3

Now that TNT has found a way to neutralize Barangay Ginebra’s advantage in length and size, the KaTropa hope to ride that winning formula to another favorable result in Game 3.

The two teams resume their best-of-5 semifinal series in the PBA Governors’ Cup when they collide at Araneta Coliseum on Friday. Game time is at 7 p.m.

TNT threw multiple bodies at Greg Slaughter, limiting the Ginebra big man to just 8 points and a game-high 5 turnovers.

Using a faster pace, TNT was able to contain on defense half of Ginebra’s Twin Towers while on offense the smaller, speedier KaTropa bewildered the defending Governors’ Cup champions. In the end, TNT totaled 20 fast-break points, compared to Ginebra’s 6.

Jayson Castro keyed TNT’s attack in the second half when Glen Rice Jr. mostly sat on the bench because of foul trouble.

Castro’s playmaking, which led to 10 assists, and outside sniping were crucial when TNT coach Nash Racela was forced to go with an all-Filipino lineup.
