Santiago named Collegiate Conference MVP
National University standout Jaja Santiago towered above the rest of the field to claim the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference Most Valuable Player recognition during the individual awards awarding rites Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The 6-foot-5 Santiago dominated the elimination round with her scoring prowess and attacking efficiency. She averaged 14.4 points with a 40.82% success rate in attacks.
Her aggressiveness in offense and tenacity at the net as well as leadership kept NU undefeated and on the right track of annexing the throne.
Her teammates Risa Sato and Gayle Valdez won the 2nd Middle Best Middle Blocker and Best Libero awards, respectively.
Sato averaged 0.44 kill blocks per set while Valdez averaged 3.33 digs per set and posted a 35.43% efficiency rate on reception.
