Pumaren believes Falcons can build on 'lucky' win vs. UP

MANILA, Philippines – Adamson head coach Franz Pumaren was the first to admit that the Soaring Falcons got a bit lucky when they secured a last-gasp 73-71 victory over the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons on Wednesday afternoon.

Sean Manganti's follow-up bucket off a Papi Sarr miss with 1.4 seconds left put the Falcons ahead for good, and then iced the victory with a steal of Jun Manzo's last inbound pass for UP.

Manganti's clutch play on both ends capped a 14-point comeback for the Soaring Falcons, who could not buy a bucket early in the game and trailed by as much as 14 points, 17-3.

"I guess we were lucky to win that game, that particular game," Pumaren acknowledged. "The whole game, we were struggling. We had a bad start, a flat start, and we made a lot of mental mistakes. We were just going through the motions."

"I guess this is a good test on our part," he added. "[It showed] that in crucial moments of the game, we can survive a game like this."
