Perpetual's Eze now out of NCAA MVP race
MANILA, Philippines – University of Perpetual Help big man Prince Eze is out of the running for Most Valuable Player honors after the Altas were eliminated from the Final Four race of the NCAA Season 93 tournament on Tuesday.
This is because a league rule mandates that only players from Final 4 teams are qualified to win the top individual honor in the NCAA.
Eze led the MVP race at the end of the first round of eliminations, and has been the rock of Perpetual Help throughout Season 93 even as they endured a rocky campaign.
The big man from Nigeria is averaging 15.5 points, a league-best 17.2 rebounds, and a league-best 2.57 blocks per game for the Las Pinas-based squad.
He has had a pair of 20-20 games, but his efforts have rarely translated into victories as Perpetual only has a 4-10 win-loss record. A 55-50 setback to San Beda College on Tuesday formally eliminated the Altas from semifinals contention, and took Eze's MVP campaign with it.
