Myanmar ONE card to feature historic ‘David-Goliath’ bout

For the first time, ONE Championship will feature an “open weight” fight, reminiscent of the early days of mixed martial arts.

The promotion will pit ONE middleweight champion Aung La N Sang of Myanmar against heavyweight striker Alain Ngalani of Cameroon on November 3 at Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Myanmar.

ONE founder and CEO Chatri Sityodtong described the fight as a “David versus Goliath” match.

“I am thrilled to announce that ONE middleweight world champion Aung La N Sang will face muay thai heavyweight world champion Alain Ngalani in a five-round open weight contest,” Sityodtong said.

N Sang’s title won’t be on the line.

The bout will be a throwback to the old MMA days when there were no weight classes. N Sang typically fights at 185 pounds, while Ngalani fights at 227.
