Lascuña 2 adrift in Taiwan
MANILA, Philippines — Tony Lascuña charged home with three birdies at the front to shoot a 69 and tied four others at seventh, two shots behind Thai Peradol Panyathanasedh and American Johannes Veerman at the start of the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship in Chinese Taipei yesterday.
Lascuña, who finished tied for 16th in last week Taiwan Masters, birdied Nos. 1, 4 and 9 and saved pars twice to preserve a 33-36 card and join Indian Ajeetesh Sandhu, local bets Lu Wei-chih and Fan Chiang and Frenchman Lionel Weber in the seventh group.
But the two other Filipinos struggled in the $500,000 event with Miguel Tabuena, who missed the cut in the Taiwan Masters, carding a 74 and Juvic Pagunsan, who placed joint second last week, turning in a 75.
