Kiefer declares for PBA Rookie Draft

MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATED) Two years after concluding his UAAP career, Kiefer Ravena is finally taking his talents to the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

Ravena announced on Monday afternoon that he is set to declare for the 2017 PBA Rookie Draft, joining an already star-studded class that includes Fil-German Christian Standhardinger and De La Salle University rival Jeron Teng, among others.

Ravena, a two-time UAAP Most Valuable Player who helped Ateneo de Manila University win two championships, averaged 16.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game over a five-year career with the Blue Eagles.

He opted to chase his NBA dream for a while instead of immediately declaring for the draft, and was a developmental player for the Texas Legends in the NBA G-League.

Since returning to the Philippines, Ravena has been steadily showing his readiness to play in the big league. He helped the country win the gold medal in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games, but it was in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup that Ravena truly shone.
