Injury puts Ranidel in doubt for rest of Meralco-Ginebra series
It looks like the rest of the Meralco squad will have to step up big time as the Bolts stand to lose Ranidel de Ocampo to injury.
De Ocampo was inserted in the starting lineup of Game 3 of the PBA Governors' Cup finals on Wednesday, but was pulled out at the 8:24 mark of the first quarter.
The injury is suspected to be a torn calf muscle, which he had been playing with since the semifinals and worsened in Game 2 Sunday.
Fortunately, Meralco was able to squeeze out a 94-81 win in Game 3 and finally got one against Barangay Ginebra in their best-of-7 series. Meralco trails 2-1 in the finals.
“We have a bit of a bad news. I think we lost Ranidel for the rest of the series because of his calf injury,” Meralco coach Norman Black said following the game.
