Hopeful Codiñera believes Arellano can rise as high as No. 3

MANILA, Philippines – A difficult first round left Arellano University with a mountain to climb in its quest to make the NCAA Season 93 Final 4, but head coach Jerry Codiñera is not losing hope.

The Chiefs have compiled a 6-9 win-loss record with just three games to go in their schedule, and Codiñera is relatively confident that they can pull out victories in those last few contests.

"Malaki (ang chance), kasi hindi mo pa alam ang mangyayari sa games ng third-placer, which is JRU (Jose Rizal University)," said Codiñera. "So kami lang, lahat ng mga assignments namin, we just have to close it out and talunin namin."

The Chiefs fanned their flickering Final 4 hopes on Thursday, crushing De La Salle-College of St. Benilde, 95-65.

"This gives us hope," said Codiñera.

Only unbeaten Lyceum of the Philippines University (15-0) and defending champion San Beda College (14-1) are assured of semifinal berths. The Heavy Bombers, at 9-6, are inching closer though the Chiefs have plans of spoiling that party.
