Ginebra's Slaughter awarded conference top player; Durham, best import
The question surrounding Greg Slaughter’s future was whether he could return to his previous, Mythical Team form after suffering an injury that sidelined him for nearly a year.
The answer is an emphatic yes.
Prior to the finals, the 29-year-old played all 16 available games in the conference, averaging 14.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks, numbers he put up while playing 27.1 minutes, sixth lowest in the team, and coming off the bench.
Along the way, he bested TNT’s Jayson Castro, Meralco’s Chris Newsome, and San Miguel Beer’s June Mar Fajardo and Arwind Santos.
For the conference’s Best Import, Meralco’s Allen Durham joined an elite company winning the award multiple times.
In leading the Bolts to the best record in the elimination round and a 3-game sweep of Star in the semifinals, Durham averaged 25.4 points and 20.1 rebounds on top of 6.8 assists, tops among imports.
