Ginebra to take full advantage of big line-up vs TNT

MANILA, Philippines – Barangay Ginebra knew what they were risking when they opted to go with Justin Brownlee as their import in the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup.

At 6-foot-7, Brownlee was one of the smallest imports in the league during the conference, but the Gin Kings managed to overcome that thanks in part to their superb chemistry with the American player. For the most part, the gambit worked: Ginebra was the No. 1 seed in the Commissioner's Cup, and reached the semifinals.

It was there that they ran into big trouble, literally. Up against the TNT KaTropa, Brownlee gave up a huge size disadvantage to Joshua Smith. The massive TNT center proved to be an immovable force and the KaTropa won the series in four games.

In the Governors' Cup, however, the roles have been reversed. This time, it is Ginebra that is armed with a size advantage that they intend to make full use of against a smaller, albeit speedier TNT squad.

"What goes around, comes around," a smiling Brownlee said on Monday, after Ginebra had routed the KaTropa, 121-94, in Game 1 of their PBA Governors' Cup semifinals series.
