Done deal: PBA commissioner Narvasa approves Kia-SMB trade

PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa approved the player trade between Kia and San Miguel Beer after the clubs submitted a third revision of the deal that still involves Kia's rights to the No. 1 pick in the upcoming rookie draft.

Kia will give up those rights in exchange for San Miguel’s Rashawn McCarthy, Jay-R Reyes, Ronald Tubid and its 2019 first-round pick, Narvasa said in a press conference ahead of Game 7 of the PBA Governors' Cup finals between Barangay Ginebra and Meralco.

It is widely believed that San Miguel will draft Filipino-German and Gilas Pilipinas mainstay Christian Standhardinger.

Based on the initial proposal submitted to the Office of the Commissioner, Kia was OK to give up its top overall pick for only Reyes, McCarthy and Keith Agovida.

It was later revised with San Miguel willing to ship veterans Yancy de Ocampo, Matt Ganuelas-Rosser, Gabby Espinas and McCarthy for the top pick.
