Bolick takes blame for San Beda's subpar game

MANILA, Philippines – Neither coach Boyet Fernandez nor star point guard Robert Bolick was satisfied following San Beda College's slim 55-50 victory over University of Perpetual Help in the NCAA Season 93 men's basketball tournament on Tuesday.

But it was Bolick who readily took the blame for the Red Lions' subpar performance, as they shot only 26.15% from the field against one of the best defensive teams in the NCAA.

"We're happy that we got the win, but we have to go back tomorrow and maybe think of what our priorities are," Fernandez said frankly after the contest. "We only had 11 assists, and (that's) not San Beda basketball… it's too low."

"Our defense stepped up, but really, our offense is questionable," he added.

In response to his coach, Bolick took responsibility and acknowledged that he did not fulfill his job as a point guard.

"Blame niyo sa akin 'yun," he said. "Kasi my role since pumasok si Coach Boyet -- and kahit noong dati pa ako na player -- is to get my teammates involved, and hindi ko ginawa 'yun ngayon."
