Ateneo's Ikeh cops UAAP Player of the Week award
MANILA, Philippines – Ateneo de Manila University center Chibueze Ikeh is the second Blue Eagle to earn Player of the Week honors in the UAAP Season 80 men's basketball tournament.
In his third season for Ateneo, Ikeh has emerged as one of the key cogs of the team, and has been crucial in their 6-0 start to the tournament.
He tallied impressive performances in back-to-back games, earning him his first UAAP Press Corps Chooks-to-Go Player of the Week award. He beat Adamson University's Papi Sarr, and Far Eastern University's Arvin Tolentino and Ron Dennison for the weekly award.
Using his height and heft advantage to the hilt, Ikeh averaged 12.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game last week.
He had seven points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals when the Blue Eagles subdued the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers, 94-84, on Wednesday last week.
