Arellano routs CSB to keep Final 4 hopes alive

MANILA, Philippines – The Arellano University Chiefs are still in the hunt for a spot in the Final 4 after a comfortable 95-65 victory over De La Salle-College of St. Benilde in the second round of the NCAA Season 93 tournament on Thursday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Behind a terrific performance from Kent Salado, the Chiefs were in control all throughout, leading nearly wire-to-wire in the contest. Six Arellano players scored in double-digits, and the Chiefs shot 50% from the field in the win.

Arellano improved to 6-9, tied with Emilio Aguinaldo College for sixth and seventh places in the league standings.

"Nakuha namin (ang panalo), and it gives us hope," said Arellano coach Jerry Codiñera. "Kami lang, lahat ng mga assignments namin, we just have to close it out and talunin namin."

Arellano set the tone from the opening tip, with Rence Alcoriza immediately scoring nine points, and Kraniel Viloria adding five markers. The Chiefs surged ahead 28-16, and never looked back.
