UP Lady Maroons respect coach's decision to resign
MANILA, Philippines – The University of the Philippines (UP) Lady Maroons are not dwelling on their lack of a head coach as they campaign in the Collegiate Conference of the Premier Volleyball League.
UP assistant coach Rald Ricafort confirmed on Monday that Jerry Yee has resigned as the Lady Maroons' head coach after a four-year stint. In his stead, Kate de Lara has been calling the shots for UP in their PVL games.
Diana Carlos, UP's current team captain, said the Lady Maroons are not sweating their lack of a head coach as they compete in preseason tournaments.
"Andiyan naman sila Coach Rald and Coach Kate, so mayroon pa rin namang nag-ga-guide sa amin," said Carlos after UP's three-set win over Technological Institute of the Philippines on Monday.
"So kami, 'yun nga, nire-respeto lang namin 'yung decision ni coach," she added.
