UP Lady Maroons pummel TIP for first PVL win
MANILA, Philippines – University of the Philippines (UP) registered its first win in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Collegiate Conference in dominant fashion as they swept Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) in three swift sets on Monday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
Coming off a five-set loss to Adamson University last week, the Lady Maroons regrouped and dismissed the Lady Engineers, 25-20, 25-9, 25-13, to hike their record in Group B to 1-1.
"Sinabi namin na kailangan talagang magbago ang mindset," said UP assistant coach Rald Ricafort after their win.
"Inalis lang namin sa utak ng mga bata 'yung gulo sa labas," he added.
Skipper Tots Carlos led UP with 14 points on 11 attacks and two blocks, while Isa Molde scored half of her 12 points on service aces as UP pounced on TIP's spotty reception and poor floor defense.
