Star plays Kia

ALTHOUGH already inside the magic eight in the quarterfinals, Star Hotshots is not about to lower its guard when it sets out today against Kia Picanto in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

After all, the Hotshots need to boost their standings to improve their placing in the quarterfinal where the top four teams — which have yet to be determined pending the completion of the elimination – enjoy twice-to-beat advantages, something they could still get if they win their last two outings.

“Still, very important game for us because of the standings and the placings,” said Star coach Chito Victolero. “We just need to focus on one game at a time.”

But what bothers Victolero at the moment is the fact that they are up against a Kia Picanto team they don’t know what  will offer in its last outing in the season-ending conference.

You see, the Picanto have lost all their first 10 outings, and it is for this reason that Victolero is wary of their 4:15 p.m. encounter with them at Mall of Asia Arena.
