SMB's Ross enters 'playoff mode' early, nabs Player of the Week nod
MANILA, Philippines – Since the Grand Slam-seeking San Miguel Beermen dropped their last two games, Fil-Am point guard Chris Ross has been in playoff mode.
In their next two games, the 6-foot-2 Ross averaged 23.5 points, 4.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.5 steals to lead to SMB to back-to-back wins over Rain or Shine and the streaking Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings.
"The playoff mode has to come early," said Ross.
"I just want to be aggressive for my team, look for my shots, but it's a total team effort," he added.
Ross' scintillating effort in San Miguel's last two games earned him the PBA Press Corps Player of the Week award for the period of September 4-10. He edged Alaska's Calvin Abueva, TNT's Jayson Castro, and San Miguel teammates June Mar Fajardo and Arwind Santos for the weekly citation.
