PSL All-Stars win bronze in Thailand meet

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Superliga (PSL) All-Star team closed its campaign on a high note, as it prevailed over the Khonkaen Star Volleyball Club in four sets to secure a third-place finish in the 2017 Princess Maja Chakri Sirindhorn's Cup in Sisaket, Thailand, on Sunday.

The PSL All-Stars flirted with disaster in the third set but finished strong in the fourth for a 25-18, 25-22, 32-34, 25-22 win.

It marked the first time that a foreign team has won a medal in the tough Thailand tournament.

PSL Grand Prix champion Foton represented the country when the tournament was still known as Sealect Tuna Women's Volleyball Championship last year, but the Tornadoes only managed a sixth place finish despite the presence of American imports Ariel Usher and Lindsay Stalzer.

This is also the first time that a selection of PSL stars won a medal in international competition, after seeing action in the Thai-Denmark Super League in Thailand and the FIVB Women's Club World Championship in the Philippines last year, as well as in the AVC Asian Women's Club World Championship in Kazakhstant earlier this year.
