NU downs UE in Bulldogs coach Jamike Jarin's debut
National University powered through the final minutes against University of the East to win 86-69 in UAAP men's basketball at Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday, giving Jamike Jarin a successful debut as Bulldogs head coach.
Dave Yu led the way for NU with 14 points, while Reggie Morido fired 12 to kick off Season 80 on a winning note.
Issa Gaye scored 8 of his 11 points in the first quarter, where NU led UE 20-13.
“It feels good we won, but there’s a lot of things to work on this early,” said Jarin, who left NCAA heavyweight San Beda to take over NU.
“Issa was the reason why we got the lead in the first quarter. Then Morido stepped in, Dave Yu in the third and everybody contributed.”
