Lady Tams down hurting Lady Eagles for solo lead

Far Eastern University came back from a set down to silence an undermanned and hurting Ateneo de Manila University, 17-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-14, Saturday in Group A of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Lady Tamaraws took the helm with their second straight win in as many games while dealing the Lady Eagles their first loss in two outings despite a sluggish opening frame.

“Sinasabi ko nga sa kanila na daanin sa bilis at huwag sasabay sa tempo ng kalaban,” said FEU coach George Pascua.

“Noong una gusto nilang madaliin kaagad. Nagmamadali sila kaya wala sa timing. Iyong sobrang aggressiveness nila nawawala na sa tamang ginagawa nila. Kaya noong huli nagkaroon ako ng adjustments. Nagpalit ako ng tao,” he added.

Skipper Bernadeth Pons finished with 16 points with all but one coming off attacks while Toni Basas and Jeanette Villareal added 15 and 13, respectively for FEU.
