Jared Sullinger Signs With Shenzhen Leopards of Chinese Basketball Association

After a successful run in The Basketball Tournament over the summer, Jared Sullinger has signed a professional contract. However, that contract is not with a NBA team.

According to TBT, Sullinger has signed with the Shenzhen Leopards of the Chinese Basketball Association to continue his basketball career.

Sullinger was drafted by the Boston Celtics with the 21st overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft, and spent five years in the league, four with the Celtics. He signed a one-year contract with the Toronto Raptors for the 2016-17 season, but was plagued by injuries and played just 11 games before being traded to the Phoenix Suns in February. The Suns waived Sullinger the day following the trade, making him free agent.

Sullinger was a late add to the Ohio State alumni TBT team over the summer, and instantly became one of the best players in the tournament. Sullinger averaged 16.8 points and 9.2 rebounds per game as Scarlet and Gray advanced to the final four of the tournament. He was named to the TBT all-tournament team.

The former Ohio State forward is one of three American born players on the Leopards, joining former Kansas guard Keith Langford and former Gonzaga star Jeremy Pargo.
