Irish challenger to Jerwin Ancajas’ throne ‘impressed’ by Pinoy champ
Jerwin Ancajas will put his world junior-bantamweight crown on the line when he takes on Jamie Conlan of Ireland on November 18 in the challenger's home city of Belfast.
The announcement was made in a press conference Wednesday afternoon and Conlan himself posted the promotional material for the bout on Twitter.
"Masaya at excited. Gusto niya makalaban si Conlan," Joven Jimenez, Ancajas' manager and coach, told ABS-CBN News in a text message on Thursday, describing the Panabo city fighter's reaction to the news.
Jimenez described Conlan as, "magaling at may lakas ang suntok, puwede siya sa labas at sa loob lumaban."
This will be Ancajas' third defense of the 115-pound championship, all of them held overseas.
