Austin on his way to China after getting visa in HK
MANILA, Philippines – Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas will be a complete team in the 2017 FIBA Asia Champions Cup after Isaiah Austin successfully acquired a visa in Hong Kong on Wednesday afternoon.
Team owner Ronald Mascariñas of Bounty Agro Ventures Inc. revealed that the 7-foot-1 former Baylor center got his visa around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, after flying to Hong Kong earlier in the day.
Austin is now headed to Chenzhou, China, via train, while his teammates in the Chooks team are on board a plane.
"Miracles do happen," Mascarinas said in a statement. "With Isaiah in the fold, we could now focus on our goal – to shock Asia once more."
Chooks-to-Go's other import, Rod Ebondo, also acquired his visa earlier in the day to ensure that the squad will be at full strength for the club tournament.
