Adamson's Sarr still not at 100% after injury
MANILA, Philippines – Adamson University's foreign student-athlete, Papi Sarr, is still not at 100% midway through the first round of the UAAP Season 80 men's basketball tournament.
He lumbers down the court without his usual grace, and struggles to get much lift whenever he goes up for lay-ups. The Cameroonian big man is still unable to rise and block shots, and instead relies on his heft to defend the post.
Despite all these, Sarr was near unstoppable in the Soaring Falcons' game against National University (NU) on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena. He scored 19 points, making seven of his 14 field goals, and grabbed 13 rebounds while also notching two steals.
He thoroughly outplayed NU's Senegalese player, Issa Gaye, who had eight points and eight rebounds, as Adamson claimed the 83-76 win.
"I'm happy for the team, because we just came from a loss," said Sarr, referring to their 73-85 loss to De La Salle University in their previous contest.
