Adamson grinds out tough win over NU

MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATED) In a fast-paced battle between two pressing teams, Adamson University hacked out an 83-76 win over National University (NU) for its second win of the UAAP Season 80 tournament on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Both teams employed an aggressive, full court pressure defense, but the Soaring Falcons turned out to have more weapons in their arsenal as they gunned down the Bulldogs with a huge second-quarter run before fending off multiple comeback attempts from NU.

The two squads are now tied at 2-2, and are mired in a three-way tie for fourth place along with idle Far Eastern University.

Adamson also bounced back from a painful loss to defending champion De La Salle University in their previous game, while NU failed to build on a win over University of Santo Tomas the last time out.

"We learned from our mistakes already," said Adamson coach Franz Pumaren. "If you look back at the two games that we lost, we had a bad start, and that's a very difficult situation."
