US Open seeds: Wozniacki fifth, Pliskova top
NEW YORK, NY, USA - The last Grand Slam of the calendar gets underway on Monday, and the field is tough with 13 of the Top 16 seeds having reached the second week or better at least once at the US Open in their careers.
It will be a full-circle moment for Karolina Pliskova and Caroline Wozniacki, who both used the 2016 US Open as a launchpad and have enjoyed a successful year since.
Last year, Pliskova stunned Serena Williams to reach the final, and she’s capped off her rise by claiming the WTA World No.1 ranking and top seed position.
Wozniacki, who has never won a Grand Slam, entered last year's tournament unseeded and ranked No.74 but finished it with a stunning run to the semifinals, before returning to the WTA’s Top 10 earlier this season.
