TNT stops streaking Blackwater with 21-point beatdown
TNT used a huge second quarter to tear down Blackwater, 117-96, in the PBA Governors' Cup at Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday.
Glen Rice Jr. fired 31 points to go with his 6 rebounds, while Kelly Williams added 21 to hand KaTropa their 4th win in 6 games.
The KaTropa shackled the Elite to just 15 points in the second canto while breaking away with 34 points for a 62-40 lead halftime lead.
This gave TNT more than enough elbow room to halt the streaking Blackwater, which was riding a 3-game winning streak going into the match.
“Going into this game we already knew that we'd need our absolute best to stop the 3-game win streak of Blackwater,” TNT coach Nash Racela said.
Racela added that they fielded a more complete lineup on Wednesday with the inclusion of Troy Rosario and Jayson Castro who were back after their Gilas Pilipinas duties.
