Stats Corner: Behind the Numbers at the US Open
NEW YORK, NY, USA - When was the last time there were 23 Americans in the main draw of a Slam? How does Venus Williams continue to set Open Era records? Who has the best hardcourt record going into the last hardcourt Slam?
WTA Insider and the WTA Stats & Information crew go deep into the numbers before the final Slam of the season kicks off on Monday at the US Open:
23 - Americans in the main draw at the 2017 US Open, the most at any Slam since the 2005 US Open.
34 - Countries represented in the main draw, led by the USA (23), Russia (11), Czech Republic (9), and Germany (9).
76 - Slam appearances for Venus Williams (including the 2017 US Open), an Open Era record. The American is 18-0 in first round matches at the US Open.
56 - Consecutive main draw appearances for former No.1 Jelena Jankovic, a streak that dates back to the Australian Open. It is the longest active streak. The record is 62-straight, held by Ai Sugiyama.
10 - Qualifiers who will be making their Slam main draw debut this year.
12 - Teenagers in the main draw this year.
3 - 17-year-olds are in the draw: Kayla Day, Claire Liu, and Sofia Zhuk. Day (US Open) and Liu (Wimbledon) are reigning junior Slam champions, Zhuk won junior Wimbledon in 2015.

15 - Combined match wins for Venus at the three Slams this year. Venus has played eight WTA events this year and has won 14 matches.
