Standhardinger arrives in KL, declares himself ready to help Gilas
KUALA LUMPUR — Gilas Pilipinas' campaign for a 17th Southeast Asian Games basketball gold medal received a massive boost when Fil-German big man Christian Standhardinger arrived here on Saturday night.
Standhardinger arrived from Beirut by way of Manila just one day before the Philippines opens its campaign against Thailand at MABA Stadium.
"I'm obviously feeling a little tired," Standhardinger said in a brief interview after his arrival. "But I'm feeling good."
"I just need to eat and sleep, and I think I'm going to be ready and ready to go tomorrow," he added.
Standhardinger adds size and skill to Gilas Pilipinas' frontline, something that has been a source of concern for the team as it heads into the biennial competition.
