Pocari's Pablo earns PVL Player of the Week nod
MANILA, Philippines – Pocari Sweat star Myla Pablo was named the Philips Gold-PVL Press Corps Player of the Week for the period of August 2-6 after she helped the Lady Warriors stay in the hunt for a Finals spot in the PVL Open Conference.
Playing with their backs against the wall, the Lady Warriors avoided elimination with a 25-22, 16-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-12 win over Philippine Air Force in Game 2 of their semifinals series last Sunday.
Pablo came through with 20 attacks and two blocks for 22 points, while also showing her defensive skills with 12 digs to power Pocari Sweat as they tied the best-of-three series at one game apiece.
"We just kept the faith and showed teamwork," said Pablo after their win.
It was a huge bounce-back victory for the Lady Warriors, who were shockingly swept by the Lady Jet Spikers, 20-25, 19-25, 20-25, in the semis opener last Saturday.
