PH coach's goal in Asian volleyball championship? Make it to quarterfinals

Head coach Francis Vicente's goal for the national team in the Asian Senior Women's Volleyball Championship is to reach the quarterfinals.

The Philippines opens its campaign in Pool A against Hong Kong at Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna, at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

The match will air at a slightly later time at 6:30 p.m. on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23 and ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166.

“It’s a very tough competition. We hope that we can enter the quarterfinals. That’s the first goal,” Vicente said during the event’s press conference at Crimson Hotel in Muntinlupa City on Tuesday. “Maybe we can do a much higher rank.”

Vicente was joined on Tuesday by coaches and representatives of the participating teams from defending champion China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Chinese-Taipei, Iran, Maldives, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan and Southeast Asian powerhouse Thailand.
