Nabor looks to step out of Morado's shadow
MANILA, Philippines – National University (NU) setter Jasmine Nabor has never denied that she looks up to Ateneo de Manila University counterpart Jia Morado, even as they engaged in memorable clashes both in the collegiate and club leagues.
Statistically, technically, and aesthetically, Morado remains the better playmaker. She won Best Setter honors in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Open Conference, edging the younger Nabor.
Yet it was Nabor's BaliPure squad that ousted Morado and the Creamline Cool Smashers in the semifinals, en route to their first ever championship in the PVL.
Her performance in the semis, as well as in the Finals against Pocari Sweat, has drawn comparisons to Morado, the former Ateneo playmaker who won Best Setter honors in the UAAP Season 77 tournament.
Nabor, however, is determined to make a name for herself and step out of the shadow of Morado.
