Muguruza: Second Slam gives me strength

STANFORD, CA, USA - GarbiƱe Muguruza believes the "family" atmosphere at the Bank of the West Classic help make it one of the more attractive tournaments to play at.

The Spaniard, who won her second Grand Slam title at Wimbledon last month, opens her Stanford campaign against home teenager Kayla Day on Wednesday, having made the quarterfinal on her previous showing at the tournament, three years ago.

The Spaniard is full of confidence after winning Wimbledon and enjoying the 'family' atmosphere of the Bank of The West Classic.
"There is a lot of crowd every time I play on centre court," the 23-year-old said of the event. "It's a very family tournament, it feels like that. It's nice weather every time I come here and is a good preparation tournament."

Muguruza also highlighted the inspiration she has gained from winning Wimbledon, with the year's final Grand Slam, the US Open, nearing at the end of the month. "[Winning it] felt amazing," she said. "It's another Grand Slam. It helps a lot [with confidence], to be able to feel that [feeling] gives you that focus and motivation to keep playing and feeling strong.

"Training is also less tricky - I am more used to [the] hard court, so you get ready earlier. I've been doing a lot of training for the heat, because it's going to be hot also. It will be a tough tournament, it's a small draw and has tough players. I'm just concentrating on my next match."
