LPU brings down Perpetual en route to still league-leading 6-0

It has been quite clear now that the NCAA 93 Men’s Basketball Tournament has gotten going that, in the blink of an eye, Lyceum of the Philippines University can run up the score.

Squeezing out 27 turnovers and quickly converting them into 23 points, the Pirates blitzed right through University of Perpetual Help for a 76-58 decision on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

LPU's transition game got the better of Perpetual's grind it out game.
In a matchup featuring two teams with polar opposite styles, it was the league-leaders who were able to impose their will all the way to their sixth win in as many games.

That didn’t seem like it after the first half as the defensive Altas slowed down the game and even had a one-point lead, 35-34, early in the third quarter. “Actually, during the first half, medyo tight kami. We were not having fun,” assistant coach Jeff Perlas said.

He then continued, “So coach Topex (Robinson) just reminded them na it’s all about defense. From making stops, we can have easy points.”

Indeed, just like that, LPU got going and unleashed 15 unanswered points for a 50-35 advantage.
