Gilas cadets console Manila-bound Belo
MANILA, Philippines – The Gilas cadets were all over Mac Belo after their huddle after a 129-34 annihilation of Myanmar in the SEA Games men’s basketball competition, comforting their comrade who’s to fly back to Manila early Wednesday morning.
“I feel for him because he’s been with us, practicing hard. Then he’s not able to play because of the things that happened,” said Gilas coach Jong Uichico.
Organizers thumbed down the Philippines’ request to field Belo instead of Carl Bryan Cruz, who was then in action with the seniors’ team in the FIBA Asia Cup in Beirut, Lebanon.
