EAC targets solo third against skidding Arellano
MANILA, Philippines – Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) tries to rise to solo third place in the league standings when the Generals battle a slumping Arellano University squad in the NCAA Season 93 men's basketball tournament Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Generals are coming off a 77-72 victory over the Mapua University Cardinals last July 25 that put their record at an even 2-2, while the Chiefs bowed to Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 75-82, in their previous game.
It was Arellano's second loss in a row, putting their record at 2-3.
Sidney Onwubere is expected to spearhead EAC's attack anew, after exploding for 22 points including a clutch three-pointer against the Cardinals.
EAC coach Ariel Sison is also banking on his team's determination to win.
"We have a veteran squad, and it's a matter of getting that will to win," he said.
