Carl Bryan Cruz rushes to KL as Gilas sticks with original roster
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Gilas Pilipinas will stick with its original line-up for the 2017 Southeast Asian Games, with Carl Bryan Cruz set to join the team Monday afternoon from Lebanon.
The Philippines appealed for Mac Belo to be included in the team in place of Cruz, but it is likely that their appeal will not prosper.
The team expects to receive the response from the technical delegate today.
Cruz flew to Kuala Lumpur straight from Beirut, where he competed with the Gilas Pilipinas team in the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup. The Philippines finished in seventh place in that competition.
Gilas Pilipinas played with only 11 men on Sunday night, when they edged Thailand, 81-74, to open their campaign for another gold medal.
